4. The next event is the annual scuba sale at the Ukrainian Club in Auburn. The date will be June 4th.

6. Janet Marsden reported on the Great Lakes Underwater conference at SUNY Oswego, and the Shipwrecks Conference at Welland, Ontario. Both were very informative. The club is considering joining the New York Sea Grant dive site stewardship program, part of the Seaway Trail development. Janet Marsden will contact New York Sea Grant to arrange for Phil Church, the director of the stewardship program, to present information about stewarding dive sites to the club at an upcoming meeting. The stewardship flyer will be posted on the website

                  * Seaway Trail Dive Site Stewardship

                  * Expectations of Site Stewardship

7. Chris Matijas and Cher Benda presented their work on the ASDA 50th anniversary commemorative scrapbook.
They would like to get more people involved, because although it’s still 3 years away, 50 years is a lot of history to cover!
There will be quarterly meetings for the scrapbook committee.
Plans were made to include an ASDA 50th anniversary poster for the scuba sale.
A motion was made and carried to allocate $200 to the project for expenses.

8. Diana O’Brien gave an update on the Tadoussac, Quebec whale dive.
This will be scheduled for a 3 or 4-day weekend in mid-August.
There are several options for travel and lodging, but final decisions haven’t been made yet.
o Some lodging options:
§ Hotels (wide price range)
§ Campground
o Some travel options:
§ Charter a bus (Mike Oster)
§ Drive separately
§ Rent a van (or 2)
§ Rent a U-Haul (600, 1200, 2200 lbs capacity available)
The trip will likely be limited to 24 people as that is the boat capacity.
Because of the water temperatures this will be a dry suit trip (40’ even in August).
There is also a possibility of diving the Empress of Ireland which is nearby.

9. Joan MacDonald reported on her recent trip to Thailand, which demonstrated that the recovery from the devastating tsunami has been very speedy and they are ready to receive tourists. The pictures Joan showed were impressive for the cleanup and the accommodations looked very nice.

10. Next meeting will be May 11th, will be held at the Skaneateles REC Center mezzanine.
