MINUTES of August 2004 MEETING

ASDC Mtg at the DeWitt Camp August 11, 04

The evening started with several divers making a shore dive. We then went to the deck to cook and eat.

Clay opened the meeting and asked Janet to report on the Woodlot Weekend. A good time was had by all. Lots of food, fellowship and diving. Many Thanks to Gary & Sue.

Our next event is the Aware Dive that is to take place in the village.  Many are needed to help us clean up the outlet and the area around the pier and the swim area. We decided to change the date so take note. It has always conflicted with the dock removal. Bob would like to change the date to September 25th instead of the 16th that is the world wide scheduled date. It isn’t important that we do it on the regular date but that we do it.

We then moved on to the Pumpkin Dive at Fallbrook. This is our biggest fall event and everyone that helps plan will make it go smoothly. The committees are working on food, (there will be a fee for the dinner that is going to be catered)  prizes, Trivia Dive and entertainment for the children. If you are not signed up to help, contact Janet to see where there is a need. It will be required to sign a Hold Harmless Form to protect the owners that have graciously donated the use of the house and grounds.

The Christmas Party is set and the Holiday Inn is the location. The menu is still being decided upon and you will get an RSVP when it is set and we get closer to the date.

Clay brought up the issue of insurance. He is checking into the liability insurance that would protect the places that we dive. It is very expensive but it would open up the state parks. Looks like $1708.00  is the quoted price for now. He is going to see about a higher deductibles. The general consensus was that we have lots of places to dive that don’t require it and maybe it is just too much to ask?    It would mean that we would have to raise the dues as well to cover the cost. When you consider the numbers of us divided out it would not be much.  Consider it and tell one of the officers what you think or talk to Clay about it.

It was getting later than scheduled and many had to leave.
