MINUTES of September 2004 MEETING

ASDC Sept Mtg at the O’Briens camp

We met at the camp and when everyone that was expected had arrived we started the meeting with a review of the “Woodlot Weekend”   A  report from Cher showing that $165. was spent on food for that occasion.

The next event is the Aware Dive and request from Bob that it be rescheduled to the 18th of this month. Check the web site for details and bring your own gear for this event. Bob will be bringing onions sacks to pick up trash with. We will be cleaning up the area in the village that is used mostly by boaters coming into the village to shop and eat. If the lake levels allow we will be cleaning up the outlet too. It would be helpful if you would let Bob DeWitt know that you are coming so that plans can be made for the truck and eats.

Janet gave an update on the plans for the Pumpkin Dive at Fallbrook.  Each group is working to make that weekend a fun one for all that attend. There will be a mailing to get reservations for meals and attendance numbers. There will be a cost for the meal on Saturday evening. Looks like we will be getting chicken from Auburn Poultry and side dishes to go with it. It will be $15. for adults and children 12 and under will be $8.00. Beverage and dessert are included.  There will be a full schedule very much like last year. If you intend to stay over make sure that you bring whatever you will need and share the responsibilities for clean up before you leave.   There will be “Hold Harmless” forms to sign when you arrive.   If you have not donated to the prizes yet we would like to let you know that we would like to include the attendees as well as the carvers this year and all donations are greatly appreciated.   If you have not volunteered to help out yet, the more that we have working the better the weekend will be and the lighter the load on everyone.  Please email Janet and let her know where you would like to help out.   We will also be having a 50/50 raffle so watch for the table with the tickets or someone selling them.

The next event will be the Christmas dinner at the Holiday Inn in Auburn . The report is that the Falls Room is very nice and the food is good too. Plan on it and watch for the details.

We have decided to place a new order for club wear. There will be some at the Aware dive and we will be taking orders for items that you would like. It is a good chance to get a sweatshirt in time for colder weather.

Our final discussion was about the election of officers. All have decided that it is time to move over and allow some new blood to take the reins of the club.  Nominations will be accepted by any officer by phone or email.  Please feel free to nominate someone and we will check with them before we have the meeting to make sure that they are willing to take on the task.  Remember that we will still be here to help out with the offices and what is required to keep the club running smoothly. We would like to have elections during the November meeting that will probably be at the REC center in the village of Skaneateles . You should plan on attending so that you can help with the input for the years to follow. There will be more details to follow about the elections and the specifics of each office.

We would like to report that we were successful in locating the equipment that was lost off the boat last week. Let me add that it is always a joy to me to be of service when someone is in need. We are just glad that we could help.

Well the season is slowing down but there is still time to get in some great diving before the water temp drops off. We will still be planning dives thru the week of the pumpkin dive and then we will be diving when the weather allows. Cher will be pulling her boat soon as she is so busy with the Christmas orders.  If you would like to dive please let someone know and we will see what we can do to help you out.

Safe Diving and Happy Bubbles.
